SB-800 Speedlight
Well.. I still can't believe I did it, but I just splerged over $800 on a flash unit for my Nikon D70. The verdict is still in on whether it was worth the purchase, but so far, things look pretty promising.
With some shots, using the SB-800, as opposed to the internal flash, the results are pretty well identical. In other shots though, there is a huge difference. Bearing in mind, I have no idea what i'm doing, so I suspect as I figure it out, the SB-800 will will prove more useful.
Some things I've noticed.. Using the D70 internal flash unit makes doing macro photography nearly impossible. Since you have to put the camera so close to the subject, the flash creates a horrible shadow. With the SB-800 (even though it's mounted on the camera) puts the light on the subject, ensuring shadows are a thing of the past. Now all I have to do is find some things to photograph.. I don't particularly like insects, so I'm not sure I want to take a picture of one that shows it's finer detail. I'm also getting kinda sick of flowers and leaves.
So far, i'm kinda impressed, but I really need to get out and start clicking away to get some much needed practice.

Yada Yada Yada
Don't you just hate that catch phrase :)
Well.. Call me a pesimist (spell?), but I reckon the world is in for a very turbulant 4 years due to George W Bush being re-elected. What were the voters thinking?
Healthwise.. apart from a bit of blood loss, I haven't had any symptoms of Crohn's Disease, so I think that's great news. The blood loss is a bit of a concern though, because I'm trying to beat the iron deficiency and anaemia, but losing blood doesn't help the situation. With any luck though, all will go okay, and will increase by the time I have my next specialist appointment on Feb 4th or 5th..
